The Holy Spirit and more signs

NORSK
Peter was quick to connect what happened to what was foretold by the prophets. The prophecy of Joel states that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is an eschatological sign. Some would argue that there is already an eternity since the day of Pentecost, but in an eternal perspective, it happened only “a few days ago”. Paul talks about the Spirit as "the first fruit of the autumn to come" (1).

But Joel also describes other signs that follow the coming of the Holy Spirit:
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy.

Acts 2:17-18
In ancient tradition, it was great respect related to age, sex, social status and ethnicity. I note that the Holy Spirit does not take such differences into account. A sign of the Holy Spirit is that human equality is safeguarded. This should have been one of Christianity's most revolutionary characteristics (2). Anything that puts limitations related to the above mentioned differences is also a limitation of the Holy Spirit.

Furthermore, it confirms that the Holy Spirit will trigger:

  1. Prophecies
  2. Visions
  3. Dreams
Over the next days I will briefly stop with these signs before I continue the tour of the Acts

'Manna' for today:
The Holy Spirit is God and God has no favorites. (3)
